By using the Wedgetail service you must acknowledge the service is provided 'as is'.
There is no guarantee of service availability. It is wise to explain this to patients at the time you print the ticket and hand it to them.
Printed tickets contain an instruction for the patient to contact the doctor by telephone if the result is not available on this service after a period of seven days.
It is recommended that all abnormal results be recalled via your normal recall systems. The DCP-Wedgetail results service does not replace or augment recall systems. Even though you may upload a result that advises the patient to return for discussion of a result, it remains your onus to recall the patient as per normal recall protocol.
The main advantage of using the DCP-Wedgetail is no requirement for maintaining an email database or altering your current workflow other than printing a ticket using the new icon on the DCP panel after printing a request, and uploading results using the DCP wizard after checking results in you clinical software. Results can be automatically uploaded after registering on the Wedgetail website and entering your registration into the DCP ticket printer form.
These functions can be made available in both MD3 and BP versions of the DCP.
Simplified Process Example.
When you have printed a pathology or radiology request, the Wedgetail icon will display on the DCP panel.

Clicking on the icon will bring up the form which allows printing of tickets that are handed to the patient along with the request form.
When checking results within your clinical software, comments entered will by default be included in later uploads using the DCP result upload facility.
It is therefore important that you direct to your comments to the patient.
Upload of results can be controlled by macro's entered into the start of the comment. The macro will begin with the hash sign #.
#R will exclude the pathology result from being displayed to the patient.
#C will exclude the manually entered comment from being displayed to the patient.
#P will exclude the policy based comment from being displayed to the patient.
Macro's can be used in any combination.
Example #RC will exclude the result and comment but leaves the policy based comment to be displayed to the patient.
"#RC this comment will not be uploaded for the patient nor will the actual pathology result, however the policy statement will be uploaded to and available for the patient."
After checking results in your clinical software you will need to open the Manual upload results form.
Use the menu item by right clicking on the DCP task tray icon.

Follow the directions in the wizard to upload results.

In this step you can alter the default policies. The default policy will include comments and has options corresponding with the 3 software policies within your clinical software.

In these steps you must click the the checked patients button and you will be able to preview uploaded results. There is no facility to edit the uploads within this step.

In this final step you will upload the results. After the results are uploaded you will be able to preview the web pages which patients will be able to view online.
