We have now bought one to try as well. All docs in clinic have decided to get one after demoing it.
Re: Getting Growled at!
Hi Phil
DCP needs to be updated to the latest version for Growl. I have tested the MD3 and BP versions.

Other than that - I’m not sure what may be preventing Growl registering the DCP.
Perhaps firewall - the Growl app sends /receives messages via TCP, but I had no problem with growl and Norton Firewall . As it is on the local machine it should not be a problem.
Cheers
Re: Getting Growled at!
When Growl is running it doesn't notice the DCP starts up i.e. DCP is not registered with Growl. What may be blocking it?
Re: DCP Subscriptions - Soon available
Any update on how we can have non-doctors writing/contributing to care plans. Especially the AUSDRISK assessments!! At the moment, the nurses are doing AUSDRISK, but it is not being recorded in Doctor's Control Panel, and so the risk of unnecessary repetition is high.

UPDATE 2010
The k550 was retired.
I have now changed all printers over to HP 5400 dt models at the surgery. All have CISS. No problems with any of them.I was able to hunt around and find the superceded K5400 models at a rediculously CHEAP price $70-$100 at officeworks (scrounged all the stores in Victoria). I would have bought 10 at that price. Even with $130 for each CISS it is cheap.Total running cost for surgery is about $100 per year. Down from $1000+. Plus no inconvenience of replacing cartridges. I have two in my office plus a small epson for envelopes.

This is just an idea. Open for comments.

I have a rough plan ---
if we collect the email address, consent and a patient supplied password (stored in custom field in MD3) at the time of handing the patient their path request slip
      -     I would like to be able to be able to email the patients results to them.
      -     Results would be emailed based on policies we setup for
this.
      -     the DCP will handle emailing of the days checked results.

I will add a new form to the DCP - this form will load all checked results for the doctor on the current day and create a summary document for each enrolled patient (those with stored email and password) .
The doctor can review the list to be sent prior to sending emails. The documents would zipped with the patients nominated passwords(or password protected pdf document) and attached to an iKey certificate signed email.

Document structure such as...................
Dear Mr John Citizen
This is a confidential summary of your test results.
You have three results which have been reviewed today by your doctor , Dr xxxxx.
One result is marked for discussion at consultation. You must make an appointment to discuss this result with Dr. Xxxxx Two results have been marked as Normal and are set out below .............................
,........,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

This has many advantages as we can make it policy to collect email addresses and passwords, and determine a policy for sending emails when results are marked as normal.
Urgent results will still be notified by telephone.
I want to eradicate phone calls for results as much as possible. We have been unsuccessful in doing so thus far.
I have seen a lot of third party portals and complex schemes but this is very doable and very simple.
What do you thinksss.
Anton
