Danger mouse-beware.
Recently I acquired a new mouse for my computer at work.
This new mouse is potentially dangerous for use with my clinical software.
Let me explain.
The previous mouse had the usual two buttons and mouse wheel.
This new mouse has four buttons plus mouse wheel.
The four buttons are not the issue.
The mouse wheel is a low resistance/free spinning wheel. This mouse wheel has caused multiple occasions great consternation and concern.
This arises from the medical director software having a combo box drop-down that allows you to quickly change between family members.
When a patient opens the focus is on the combo box and if you happen to touch the mouse wheel, even just slightly, the clinical software opens up on a new patient, often without you realising that the change has occurred.
This has resulted in multiple problems with scripts and letters being printed in the wrong patient's name.
